Is the e-invoice mandate real, and when does it apply to me?

Yes. LHDN's MyInvois system is rolling out in phases by annual turnover. Phase 4 covers RM1m to RM5m turnover from 1 January 2026. Businesses below RM1m turnover are currently exempt.

Do I need to replace my existing POS or accounting system?

Accepted Answer

No. The portal works alongside your existing system. Submit invoices manually, via CSV upload, or in the future via our API. Your main system stays as-is.

How do you store my LHDN credentials?

Accepted Answer

Your LHDN Client ID is stored plain in our database. Your Client Secret is encrypted at rest using AES-256-GCM with a master key that lives outside the database. We never log secrets in plain text.

Can my accountant or staff use the same account?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Each shop supports an Owner, Accountants, and Staff with role-based access. Invite anyone by email. They get their own login.

Question 5

What happens if a submission to LHDN fails?

Accepted Answer

Failed submissions are saved with the LHDN error response. Our retry job runs every 5 minutes to retry network or transient failures. Validation errors (bad TIN, missing fields) need manual fix.

Can I cancel a validated invoice?

Accepted Answer

Yes, within 72 hours of validation. After that, LHDN does not allow cancellation. Use our admin UI to cancel within the window.

Do I need an SSL certificate or digital signature for sandbox testing?

Accepted Answer

No. Sandbox submissions are unsigned. Production submissions to LHDN require an X.509 certificate from MSC Trustgate, Pos Digicert, or Raya Identity. This is a per-taxpayer setup outside our portal.

What if I exceed my monthly document limit?

On Free tier, submissions pause once you reach 50 documents in a month and resume at the next period. Paid tiers have unlimited documents, so there are no limits to hit and no overage charges.

What is the penalty for not issuing e-invoices in Malaysia?

Failure to issue an e-invoice is an offence under Section 120(1)(d) of the Income Tax Act 1967: a fine of RM200 to RM20,000 per offence, imprisonment of up to six months, or both. Businesses above RM5 million turnover (Phases 1 to 3) are past their relaxation periods and face enforcement now. Phase 4 (RM1 to 5 million) is penalty-free until 31 December 2027.

Is an e-invoicing subscription tax deductible?

Generally yes. Software subscription fees are typically an operating expense, deductible in the year incurred, unlike custom software development, which is usually capitalised and written down over several years under capital allowance rules. Confirm the treatment for your business with your tax agent.
